About Georgina

Dr Georgina Evdoka-Burton

DClinPsy · Clinical Psychologist · HCPC Registered

Hello — I'm Georgina. I've spent most of my career working in NHS specialist services — in adult mental health, trauma, and perinatal psychology. Now I work privately, giving each person more time, more continuity, and a genuinely personalised approach to their care.

MY BACKGROUND
Over 25 years of specialist experience

I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton and have since specialised in trauma, complex PTSD, and perinatal mental health. I hold specialist training in EMDR (Parts 1, 2 & 3), Compassion-Focused Therapy, DBT, and several other evidence-based approaches.

MY APPROACH
Warm, direct, and genuinely present

I'm trained in several evidence-based therapies — EMDR, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches — but I don't work from a rigid manual. I bring these tools together in a way that fits each person I work with.

I'm warm and direct. I won't be a blank screen, and I won't ask you how that makes you feel and leave it at that. I'll be genuinely present with you — curious, engaged, and on your side.

I believe people are fundamentally resilient. Life can knock us sideways, and sometimes we need support to find our footing again. That's what I'm here to help with.

Notes on leaving the  NHS
Same values, more time for you

Working in the NHS gave me so much — remarkable colleagues, complex and meaningful cases, and a deep belief in publicly funded healthcare. Moving into private practice isn't a departure from those values; it's a chance to give each person more of what I know makes therapy work: time, consistency, and genuine attention.
